Oroiael, astrology platform

Oroiael computes charts for five symbolic systems from a single birth date: Vedic astrology with 22 divisional charts, Human Design, Matrix of Destiny, tarot and Soul Arc, a system of our own. There are no external APIs — every computation engine is ours, built from the system's classical rules and validated against established references.

The challenge

The practice runs on ten open tabs

Astrologers and tarot readers work with fragmented tools: one site for the Vedic chart, another for Human Design, another for Matrix, plus screenshots for every client. No single tool covers all the systems, and results differ between sites with no way to know which one computes correctly. We wanted one platform that does all the math locally, transparently and verifiably.

The solution

Engines built from the classical rules, not borrowed

We wrote every computation engine from scratch, starting from each system's classical rules: planetary positions from astronomical ephemerides, the 22 Vedic divisional charts, the Human Design bodygraph, the Matrix octagram. Every rule is checked by a suite of over 4,400 automated tests and validated position by position against established references. On top of the engines we built chart generators: each system draws its own diagram — zodiac wheel, bodygraph, octagram — directly in the browser, ready to export.

Visual identity

Color palette

Warm cream and paper in day mode, near-black at night — purple for structure, ember orange for accents. A register closer to an old book than to an app.

Spectral

Spectral (serif) for headings and reading text — the platform's editorial voice.

Secondary body

IBM Plex Mono for data, tables and planetary positions — everything computed reads as an instrument.

Serif for reading, monospace for computing.

Process

From research to launch

01
We studied each system's classical rules and transcribed them into verifiable specifications.
02
We built the astronomical engine: planetary positions from ephemerides, historical time conversions, geographic coordinates.
03
We implemented the five systems, from the Vedic D1 chart through D144.
04
We validated results position by position against established references in the field.
05
We built the chart generators: every diagram drawn programmatically, in the platform's visual identity.
06
We covered everything with over 4,400 automated tests, so every change gets verified.

The chart generators

Each system draws its own diagram programmatically: the zodiac wheel with aspects, the bodygraph with gates and channels, the Matrix octagram with ages on the ring. The same engines power our internal working tools — a single source of truth for every computation.

Validation, not trust

A wrong astrological computation is invisible to the user — it looks exactly as plausible as a correct one. So every rule is automatically tested, and results were compared position by position against established references, including on the rare divisional charts.
